NEOTYPE a ‘’broken ballet’’ duet for Sarah Mestrovic and Elinor Jodonik , both soloist of the Berliner Staatsballet. Neotype explored the possibility of a new breed of ballerina that could be both grounded and weightless, wild and delicate. Finding new meaning in opposition to the set and rigid aesthetic of ballet requiring not only change in the aesthetic but also in the physicality, psychological psyche of the performers . Ballet buns were let down, only one point shoe was worn for a period of 2 months. The repercussion of this practice was a completely new character or breed of ballerina witch i labeled as a NEOTYPE.
A NEOTYPE is a type specimen that is selected subsequent to the description of a species to replace a preexisting type that has been lost or destroyed. The piece premiered at Konzerthaus Berlin with the Berliner Chamber Orchestra .
